I’m not quite sure how to phrase this question but I’ma try my best. When getting a loan for a house that needs to be renovated, should you only get a loan for the house itself or for both the house and the cost of the renovation?

Follow up question, when getting an estimate of how much the renovation will cost, should you find out before you buy the house or after?
