SFH vs Multifamily

My wife and I are just starting out and trying to determine which niche is going to be the best for us. We eventually plan on moving into apartment complexes down the road but need to establish that road first. I would like to hear from everyone which they prefer and why, what works and what doesn't. That should help me decide what will be best for us. So what will it be, single family homes, or multi family units...

An obvious question is do you have the kind of funds it takes to buy a multi family? If not start where you can.

In my area the returns on SFH are much better than multi-family, so I am going with SFH right now.

In general I would say go as big as you can afford as long as the returns are good. The caveat however is you may want to start with a SFH simply because you wold have less money at risk on your first deal.
