Where to invest Down Payment

Hi All! Just curious where are you guys holding your down payment funds while youre saving up to hit the down payment minimums? Do you invest it in index funds to make it grow while you save? High yield Savings accounts?

What kind of real investing could you do to make it worthwhile that doesn't put you at risk of losing some of it?

Just my thoughts. I am more of a cash-on-hand person.

@Curt Davis thank you! but lets say it takes me a year to save up for a down payment, should I invest that money over the year so it can grow while im waiting to use it? and then cash out of the investment when it comes time to use it as a down payment?
