Starting out from abroad any advice?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to reach out and start networking and learning from all the great people here. I currently live in Tokyo, and over the last two months, the idea of creating wealth through real estate has come to the forefront. I have had many friends who are currently investing in real estate and have reached out to them, but I figured I could get to know and learn from all the people at Bigger Pockets. I have been listening in on the BiggerPockets podcast as well as a few of their books. I know I want to start with SFH or multifamily as it fits my current lifestyle to invest in that area. I wondered if there are people who have started out investing while overseas and could share some advice on where to get started. Any advice, in general, will gladly be appreciated.

It sounds like you already know what types of properties you want to own. The next step will be to pick a market that you want to invest in and do some market research in that area. Once you have selected your market you will want to set up an entity to own your properties in such as an LLC. I know a lawyer that has been helping foreign national real estate investors set up entities to do so for the past 15 years. I would be happy to connect you to her. I also have a financing option connection for foreign National investors. Once you have a pre-approval, know how much you can afford to purchase and have the cash ready to deploy from the right accounts it is time to locate local professionals such as an agent and start looking to buy your first investment property and build wealth through real estate.

I just listened to Real Estate Rookie podcast #24 about this today. I military guy is doing this from Germany. Might be worth a listen to what he has to say about it. Made me feel more comfortable about trying to do it out of state for sure!
