Rookie Looking for First Rental

Hi everyone! My husband and I are looking to purchase our first rental. I've been looking at the markets and was hoping to invest in either Brownsville, TX or somewhere in NC like Asheville or Charlotte. I'm feeling a little trigger shy on our first purchase. Does anyone have any rentals in these areas that are doing well? Thank you for your feedback.

Courtney, I invest around the Asheville area, primarily Hendersonville. Finding a turn-key long term rental that will cash flow is difficult. It is definitely an appreciation market. Our success has been in buying small multifamily with value-add and implementing the BRRRR strategy. Most of my investor clients are primarily buying vacation rentals which is another strategy that works well in this area. Feel free to reach out. I'm happy to discuss what works for us and some different strategies that can work for you guys based on your goals.
