Hawaii Oahu Real Estate

Madeline Nguyen
Posted

Hello,

I am looking to purchase my first property on Oahu in the near future. I am planning to rent it out with the intention of moving there in the next 2-3 years. I was wondering if anyone has any insight on which bank would be best to get pre-approved. Is it best to work with a local Hawaiian bank? I'm a newbie looking to learn more so open to hearing all your knowledge.

Thanks!

Hi Madeline - that's great you are planning to buy here.  Yes, I highly recommend you work with a local lender as they are easier to deal with than a mainland bank if an issue arises with the property.

What part of the island you looking to invest in?  And the mortgage lender many of my clients use is Cary Chinn: 808 469-1314.  His company, Hawaiian Mortgage Experts does the most loan volume here.

Are you working with a realtor?  If not, I'd be happy to help you achieve your real estate goals.   Here is some info on my experience/background if you are interested:
