Ive decided to get my RE licenses, which route to take?

After reading a lot of topics on RE, i decided to get my real estate license. Should I do this through a bokerage firms training program or should i explore the courses myself? Anyone have class recommendations for the CA area?

I took my licensing from one of the brokerage companies but I did not go with that brokerage. What you learn will not vary much because it is dictated by state law. Who you learn from will vary as much from instructor to instructor as from organization to organization. You might ask new agents in your area what they thought of their instructor.

I think in person learning is best because you can ask question of the instructor.

I hate to use the good old "it depends" but it does depend on your personal situation and what you want to do. Each option has big pros and cons.

There are basically 3 ways to get licensed:

- Correspondence with a book (what I did): fast but no networking

- Online: medium speed and no networking

- Live classes: slow speed but networking

In my case I wanted to get licensed as fast as possible so I did it with the book, which I could just carry around with me and progress fast.

If speed isn't your main concern, I'd do the live classes because no matter what you decide to do as an agent (even working by yourself) networking has a huge impact. You'll meet experienced agents and other eager newbies.
