Working Full Time Job & Starting as an Agent

Hey everyone,

A good family friend of mine graduated from college not to long ago and has a full time job he does during the day. He has a wife to take care of, and as such can't just abandon his full time job expecting to make it on commissions alone (especially as a new agent).

Is it possible to work on the side part-time as an agent when you are working a full time job? Have any of you done this personally or know someone that has? His goal would be to transition from the 9-5 to doing real estate full time as an agent.

Then from there get in the investment side of things. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

I am a part time agent in an extremely competitive area. My work allows me to be flexible if need be but rarely do I need to be. Most of my work is evenings and weekends when with clients. Oddly enough my clients also are busy 9-5 during the week with carreers, lol. At first I was nervouse I would not be able to handle it all but once you learn the systems there is not much to sweat about.

Tips: knows your market and its inventory, you can check out the goods on weekends easily enough and get a good idea from the mls.

* understand the process of selling a home so you can tell your clients what to expect

*do not hide you are part time, always be honest with clients. I tell them I am a part time agent only because of lending purposes, which is true. I need 2 years of consistent sales to qualify for mortgage.

* get good with paperless system. Having to go to the office is annoying even if you are fulll time.

* I personally only take on clients I can handle, if feel I will not be able to provide the highest service I do not jeopardize my reputation by taking on a task I can not forfill ie client that only wants weekday mornings

Best of luck, sell some hkmes
