I would imagine most people reading this thread are aware of the many many lawsuits that Realtor organizations are fighting, losing, and settling. I've never seen any value in being a part of NAR other than the fact that many MLS systems require Agents to affiliate with Local, State, and National Realtor organizations to be able to use the MLS.

Now with all of these lawsuits, some of which are about the practice of MLS's "forcing" real estate agents to become Realtors in order to use the MLS, many MLS's are no longer requiring this. This is a change for some of the MLS's that I use. As such, I see zero value in the Realtor organization and I have decided to cancel my membership.

Agents and Brokers.......What are you doing in regards to NAR membership? You gonna keep paying the dues and affiliate? Or you gonna go another way?

I've never understood the value. Local association I like. Our Texas state association is good. Not sure NAR provides anything to me personally. Kind of seems like much of the government. You build these big organizations that kind of justify their own existence and expand the mandate.

Last year with the lawsuit, I thought why does NAR have a big bank account and assets. They should be asset light and zero money in the bank. That would help them defend against lawsuits....Sue me....I have no money and I'm not even going to hire a lawyer to defend it.
