Real estate agent required?

Question

Do I need to have a real estate agent for legality reasons when paying cash up front for a mobile home? Sorry, soon-to-be first time homebuyer here. Thanks in advance.

No you dont, you might want to involve a lawer to make sure that your transaction is recorded properly. A moble home is not like a traditional house, it is transferred like a car not like a house. Find someone who knows how to do this in your state. You will not need a real estate agent for this one.

No but I would encourage it. Your seller has already agree to pay for a listing agent, assuming it has been listed, and the listing agent will split his commission with a buyers agent. So there is no reason to not have an agent represent you. Plus, if your agent is good at negotiating they may be able to save you money, not to mention you won't have to hassle with all the paperwork, and there is a lot of it.

I agree with @Colin Smith.  If it is listed on the MLS there is little to no downside for you to use a real estate agent since the seller pays the commission.  As a first time homeowner, it will save you a lot of time in chasing details and could actually save you some money.  Plus, an agent can help you determine if a lawyer is beneficial.

That questions is all matter of opinion. I would find the Realtor first and if something arises then seek out a lawyer.
