I want to get my real estate license. I live in Iowa but want to purchase properties mainly in Kansas and Oklahoma. Will an Iowa license allow this or is there more state specific requirements I am unaware of?

@Buffalo Bonker

You don't need a license to buy a house or sell your own property. You need a license to buy or sell property on someone's behalf.

Licenses are state specific. You have to hang your license with a broker in the state you operate in.

To get a license in multiple states, you usually have to take the exams in those states and apply for a non-resident license.

Each state has different reciprocity rules for non-resident licenses, so you have to go the the state license commission websites and look up their application process.

Oklahoma does have an agreement with Iowa. 605:10-7-9. Nonresident licensing covers the process.

This is the link for Kansas non-resident information: https://www.krec.ks.gov/licensing/non-resident
