What does it mean to be sponsored by a broker?
Seriously considering getting my real estate license. I have read that to become licensed you must be sponsored by a broker. What is the significance of this? Do you have to work for a broker? Can you do this part time? Mainly want my license for MLS access, and to strengthen my investing team. Also to acquire the specific, in depth knowledge. Located in Ohio.

Each state varies but generally you need to find an existing brokerage where you can "hang your license". Shop around and see what the costs are to do so. Each one likely has different commission splits and fees.
