I am looking to get my real estate license. What is the normal tax filing you will have to do, W2 or 1099? Does it depend on the state or which real estate company you go through?

Most of us Realtors are Independent contractors for tax filing purposes and we file as Sole proprietors or LLC. Very Few are W2 with benefits from an employer.

@Jeremy Roll You will be issued a 1099. Your considered an independent contractor under IRS regulations.
