Building Up My Name and Customers Before Licensing

Hello BP Community!

I am currently working on getting my Real Estate License (2.5 weeks left of classes). As I am approaching the end of my classes and preparing for the exam, I have been telling people that I am working on being licensed by mid/end October so if they or someone they know will be looking to buy/sell to keep me in mind.

I pretty sure that I am limited on how to market myself since I am not licensed yet, for example, I was told to hold off on the social media until I become licensed. So I was wondering what are other strategies I can use to start getting attention and start building up my name?

Thanks in advance!

Mike, do you find that effective? I see a lot of agents im my area regurgitate generic home related articles daily on their social media and it comes off as tacky to me. Now if someone is creating or posting relevant, locally focused content then that's a different story. But the clickbait '10 steps to stage a home' articles get way more traffic than I think they should sometimes! You're right, there has to be perceived value.

In the context of a soon-to-be an agent it might make sense to start to introduce content like this slowly to key off to your network that you are in the real estate realm. At a certain point I am inclined to say if you go overboard people may get turned off and unfollow your page to ignore it.

Lissette, maybe talk about your excitement and reasons for getting licensed, display your passion, start to network with other agents and professionals and volunteer your time with a worthwhile and related cause. All strategies I am working to utilize as a newly minted agent as well.
