What is the best broker to work for? (Rhode Island)

Question

Hello everyone my name is Kendrick Salazar. I am a business owner which I have managed to build and scale successfuly it is typically an overnight venture (Commercial Cleaning. However my whole purpose for building it was to generate enough revenue to leave my job and pursue my main area of focus. Invest in Real estate and build my next business which requires a brokers license in my state (Property Management). Now that I have obtained that goal. I have pursued getting a real estate license so that I can eventually work on getting my own brokerage but in the meantime I want to work for the best. Also I do plan on still helping people selling and buy homes. While I have the license fulltime.

What broker is the best to join for a new licensed real estate agent?

i appreciate the insight. I will look into Exp realty. Im definently interested. Also in the state of Rhode Island you cant do property management without the approval of your brokerage and cant have a P.M business unless your a broker. Its more a long term thing but I will definently reach out to Exp. Thank for sharing the info. Much appreciated!

Hello Matt I appreciate the input. Ultimately yes a brokerage license for a P.M business is the goal. Also for me the commission per house transaction is important however my ability to learn from the best is also equally important. Are there any places you recommend where you know broker owners would be like events etc. Or do you have any suggestion on how to get in contact. I was thinking of just calling all of the ones in the state and trying to meet with them and ask questions.

Are you only looking to do property management or are you also looking to do sales transactions with your license? I’m with eXp realty and the commission split is 80/20 and we offer a great one on one mentorship program so you can learn from the best. The only caveat is that eXp does not do any property management but you can always manage your own properties without a license.

Hey Kendrick! Welcome, and congrats on all of the exciting endeavors ahead of you! There's really a lot of factors that come into play when deciding on which broker to work under.  However, I personally believe the #1 thing is having a tremendous broker /owner to look up to.  Broker support is arguably the most important tool a new agent could have.  There's some brokers that offer higher starting commission splits than others (80/20, versus 60/40, for example), but there is far more to the equation than the initial spilt you'd be receiving at your closings.  It sounds like you're ultimate goal is to hold your brokers license so that you can run a property management business, rather than manage a team of real estate agents? I am licensed with a RE/MAX Broker here in RI, and before deciding on hanging my license with them, I spoke / met with at least 5 other broker / owners before making my decision.  I'd be more than happy to discuss further and help guide you in the right direction if you'd like any more input on my experience thus far and how what I've learned may be of value to you, too!
