Real estate liscence

Im not proud of it but unfortunately i have a criminal history from my past.

Drug charges only,no sex offenses,no theft,no violent crimes.

I reside in newjersey and my question is will my criminal history affect me from trying to get my real estate liscence?

I have called the real estate commission and im not getting a straight answer because i will not get a refund if i get denied from the class

HI Michael, 
 it might depend on how long ago that criminal record is from.  (i learned this in the class for GA licensing.... ) 
The law regarding charges for agents is more lenient than applying for broker though
