95 degrees and the AC unit died .

The AC in one of my houses crapped out yesterday . Had the HVAC guy out first thing this morning  ( He does all my work ) .  Naturally its the compressor .  They make a replacement , but its 10 days out .  So I dug into my stash of window units . 4 window shakers .  The woman of the house was a bit upset . I told her to deal with it .  I told her it was 3 grand for a new compressor , or 15 grand for a new unit .   The house is being sold next year .    My wife understands now and can deal with window AC units for a week or 2 .

If I was staying , I would replace . Since I am selling why spend the money ?   The house is in a very popular area , homes last less than a week , and just thru word of mouth I have 4 interested parties who want to buy .  House is in the mid to high 6oo's as is .

This is why I keep 8 window units as emergency back up .

Quote from @Matthew Paul:

@Bill B. I dont hire the cheapest , or guys that do side work .  The company I use has been in business 40 years , has the knowledge , and stands behind his work . He has to make a profit . All my subs are good , but not cheap .  When I call they are there .

Yep. I want the subs to prosper and make the mark-up on the materials and their labor....
