Any Value to Getting Home Improvement Contractor's License?

Hi I'm looking into getting a home improvement contractor's license in New Jersey only for my own property or property that I'm working with a partner on.  Is this worth doing?  Will I be able to save money on materials or will I lose money maintaining the license requirements (Insurance, license fees, etc.)?  I don't have an intention of quitting my day job in the short term.

@Benjamin Molnar  You kind of answer your own question with your question:  if a person can get a contractor's license, with no intention of being a contractor and ostensibly no background, experience or qualifications in the field, I would say, in reality, such a license would be of little or no value and is reduced to just a piece of paper.
