Chicago Zoning issues with enclosed porch... what type of pro to hire to deal with city?

I may have a zoning issue due to the type of residential rear porch I have. What kind of professional does the city of Chicago prefer to deal with for residential zoning issues? Who should I be looking for to be the "head" of the dialogue between myself and the city and to provide the necessary documents that the city will want to see?.... Attorney?... Architect?

LOL...

Dealing with the city of Chicago is not all that challenging when you know the ropes. If your porch has violations, you will need a city licensed general contractor approved to $500k and current with the city and the city provides a list. Second , a few years ago there were a couple of high profile cases in which porches and decks gave way causing death to some which prompted the city to crack down and strengthen the code to protect people from situations like that from happening again. trust me this is not something to take lightly or try to perform the work without a permit. You should make an appointment with your local alderman who will explain in greater detail the requirements and plan on hiring an architect as well. Typically this is a lengthy process but mandatory.
