so I hired contractor  to remodel bathroom and he contracted it out to another contractor  who's cotracts bad contractors to to work.I had to have them gut the bathroom again  and do it again.it still wasn't done properly due to they put up drywall and they didn't even prime walls  so paint comes off,the tile is 2 diffrent colors when supposed to be all white, the drain pipe is not to code and looks like cap so I had to fire them.now he wants to be paid in full and said if don't will put lien on house .I don't feel that they completed the job correctly. there wasn't sign contract with this contractor .I would be willing to pay for one set of materials  but nothing  more since I have to find another  contractor  to do it correct .what are my options ?

Your deal was with the first contractor IF you had a signed agreement and he is licensed you can go to the county abysout him, sue him and maybe he would agree to pay out of pocket for you to hire another contractor of your choosing to make this problem for him go away.

You should never hire anyone without getting proof of license and Insurance, signed contract that also specify s "there are to be no subs or other trades hired for this job".

It's not the "bathroom from hell" It's the "contractor from hell".
