Contractor estimates

Hello,

About to close on a two family that needs some work.  I contacted both contractors 3 weeks ago and they both walked through the unit 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received an estimate from either of them.  Am I crazy to think 2 weeks is enough time to send over an estimate?  Maybe this process normally takes this much time?  I'm probably just impatient but I would love some input.  Thanks!

Kevin

Yeah, if I walk a property (and did several) and find out they did not own it, I wont give a written estimate, verbal ballpark maybe, it sure is the only thing they deserve. My time is valuable, getting a winning bid is only 10% of all walks, and not owning the house multiplies it by 10%, simply because there is only 10% chance of them pursuing the house, that's virtually 1% of my chance getting that bid. You think you're only vetting contractors? Contractors are vetting on clients too. Speaking for myself, I don't want to get a client that does not know what they want, nor does not pay the right price for my time. If the job doesn't fit, I will tell you straight up what you need, say someone wants to do a countertop job, I'll simply send a guy out then you work it out within yourself without my involvement, there is simply no money and not worth my time.
