Building a home (Jacksonville, FL)

Hello everyone! I'm researching the possibility of purchasing a lot and hiring a builder to construct a single-family home. I've come across many builders and developers that construct in community settings but not on private lots. Any advice on how to accomplish this?

@Account Closed, That is a very good question. You name it I've come across it. I would say that the interpretation of the Building Codes by the Inspectors, this can be very frustrating. The second would be the impact that suppliers, sub contractors and third party individuals can have on the timelines and the budget. I would like to suggest something that would same you time and a lot of money. If you are not building this home for a long term personal residence then you should consider this tactic. Find a cheap house that sits on good piece of land and in a good area. Partially tear down the house leaving one wall and the original foundation. This will be considered a major remodel and addition. Have your new home built around it. This saves you the cost of having a new sewer connection, power, data and water connections. Here in the Bay Area California these cost average $15K each...
