Tags, Messages not working

I'm not receiving tags, messages, etc. to my email, and I've checked to make sure BP isn't blocked on my email acct. - anyone else experienced this and know how to fix it? It's a pain to keep checking my inbox for messages, and not knowing if I've been tagged in a post or other.
