Issues with @mention feature when quoting other posts

I mentioned this in another thread the other day, but I am having issues with the @mention feature whenever I am quoting another post.  If I post in a thread without quoting, the @mention works as it is designed.  Whenever I click reply, the cursor location within the box skips a line as soon as I start to type.  When the reply posts, the @mention is not highlighted.

I have seen other posts that look similar, including posts where I was mentioned but never got a notification.  Not referring to mentions from new members that don't know how to use the feature yet, but experienced members likely encountering the same problem I am.

Last mention I got was from Brandon in the Brandon Tuner thread but that could have been an automated response executed by some cat with a function key and admin control!

Anything on that popup warning me to follow the rules in the PMs blocking me from using my PM? Actually, I don't recall being on any site that has that hurdle and some are fierier than this one, ought to talk to sailors on family rated sites!

I won't mention the "waiting for biggerpockets to respond" stuff, or timing out after sending a long post and losing it or being able to eat a sandwich while I scroll up the page to use the back button or go to the forums, all that can wait...... :)
