Runaway script?

Biggerpockets website is thrashing my CPU lately. May need to look into what scripts are using up memory/processes.

Think I found it.  One of the side ads was either some kind of gif or movie or something.  I had several tabs open (in Chrome) and having that gif run in several tabs at once just killed everything.  Once the ad changed over to a static one, performance increased.

I have a maxed-out Macbook Pro, with no less than 75 tabs open at all times, in addition to Adobe Suite, IDE, VM's, etc. Running Chrome. I build large web apps with high memory requirements... but they shouldn't take over a CPU.

The content in question is definitely at fault, if that's what was isolated. Maybe time to check with the ad agency about their content standards?

Thanks Robert.  The ad itself wasn't the problem.  It's having multiple tabs open and the same motion heavy ads running in all tabs at the same time.

I was wondering what the difference was between work and home.  At home, I never have performance issues regardless of how many tabs I have open, but the difference is that I have an adblocker on my home computer.

Which, I know, indicates that I probably ought not to be surfing BP at work.....   I'm sure my boss would agree with you.

I'm sorry that you are having issues.  I'm having trouble recreating the high CPU usage your seeing.  Which OS, Web browser and extensions are you using?
