Ads in the Blog section?

Question

I have a question.

Why have so many postings in the Blog section of BiggerPockets turning out to be just an ad for the person?  As I read over the Blog posts, I am amazed at how many are just ads!  No content at all!  Is this the place for ads?

FYI: Your "member since" must be a mistake. BP has been around for much longer than Jan 08, and as the founder your date is the same as the start date!

Sounds good, Will!  We only want the best posts to be highlighted on the main Blogs page, so we have the ability to remove any post or entire blog from that page.

I didn't kknow that Josh. See, we can all learn something new each day!
I too have seen several "just ads" as blog posts. I will help James let you know as well. It is annoying to see a good title, get to the blog, just to find out it is some ad for their business,. usually for loan modifications, etc. I have even seen several that had nothing to do with real estate.

As for sleep - not much.

As for reporting . . . just shoot me a PM with the blog or posts.  If someone posts one article that is an ad, we can remove it from the blog main page.  If their entire blog is just ads, we can prevent it from ever appearing on the blogs main page.

You can still get there from the user's profile, but it is less visible for all, once we remove.

Hey James - 
If people are using their blogs as a place just to create ads, let us know.  We will then ensure that their blogs get no visibility on our main blog directory.

While we have given people the ability to blog what they desire on their own blogs, we don't have to help promote it for them if they are just advertising on it.

So . . . let us know about those blogs that you don't feel should remain on the main page of the blog directory and we'll review and, if need be, remove those that are just ads.
