Linking to a specific comment?

Does anyone know if there's a way of getting the URL for a specific comment in a discussion thread? If not, is there a place for submitting feature requests?

@Mindy Jensen I just wanted to share a link to a specific comment. Quoting is not the same because the link provides the context of the original conversation.@David Dachtera yeah I expected the timestamp of the comment to be a link that I could copy and paste the URL of. It's a fairly common pattern. Alternative to that is the "permalink" pattern which is also fairly common. In this case though there's no way to link to a specific comment AFAICT. Oh well!

We used to be able to get the URL ("permalink") for any specific post in a thread by hovering over a somewhat hidden area in the post header within the thread, then right-click to save the link. It was useful when you wanted to refer someone to a specific post in a thread rather than have to tell them, "Look for the 12th post on the second page."

Similar functionality is available for someone's recent posts when you view their profile. So, we know that info is available.

One of the hallmarks of the midrange systems I used to work on was that they strove to have all new functionality be 100% backward compatible with existing behaviors. We always gained features and rarely lost any.

What specifically are you trying to do? You can quote anyone in a thread by hovering over the three green dots in the upper right of their post and choosing "Quote".
