Automatic Dashboard question

Something discussed in the beta testers group just made me realize that every time I log on to BP it automatically takes me to my dashboard and the activity feed.

The dashboard automatically isn't such a bad thing but I really hate the activity feed. I really don't care who is following who, who posted an article here or what your status update is. Lately, my activity feed seems spammed by someone I don't even like but I keep him as a colleague to watch his activity because I know who he really is and what he's really trying to do so I'm keeping a close eye on him.

Ultimately, how can I make it so where when I log in, the forum activity pops up and not the friends activity pops up? Does that make sense?
