Question/suggestion for forums

I hope this is the right forum for this.

Anyway, is there a setting somewhere that lets me go to the first new post in a thread? I can't find anything like it anywhere. If there is no thing like this, can it be added?

Second is in regards to the "Latest Forum Activity" list on the front page. Any time I click back out of a thread, it takes me back to page one of the list. Its a bit annoying if I am on page 3 or 4.

Josh,
I work working on one of my sites and thought there may be a short-term solution for this. I assume you use a cookie or session to track a user who is logged in. The page number last viewed on the dashboard or "Latest Activity" could be stored in the same location in order to retrieve the same page.

No idea how your site is designed, just a thought.
