Have to Move to Baltimore in next 5 months

Due to a change in my husbands job we need to move into the city in the next six months. Ideally we would not choose to buy with interest rates what they are and knowing this job could be subject to change in the next 2 years as it tied to politics. That said I thought the ideal situation would be to buy something and upgrade it as we have time. It needs to be is a safe area with parking, as the nature of his job means he come and goes in the middle of the night at a minutes notice. Is it realistic to think that we could do this or does this type of place get snapped up quickly? We have a renovation trust as we own several rentals in AA county. I just don’t see anything when I look online.

Thank you!
