Florida is hot and buggy, don't try it.  Surfing, boating, beaches, golf, 300 days of sunshine, 360 days of above freezing weather, it's all over-rated.  Oh yeah, there are hurricanes here all the time, it sucks.

Baby Boomers are retiring in record numbers across the country. What states are they moving to? I moved to Florida from Massachusetts 27 years ago and never looked back. I don't think I would have had the same success in Massachusetts. Your already here in Florida. I know a lot of investors on this site buy real estate from a distance but in my opinion most first time investors are better off getting experience in their own back yard.

@Shai Buki I think both markets will have there pros and cons.  As you continue to read BP you will many advocates of 'making your market work for you'.  Whichever market you decide to invest in make sure to fully commit and take the time to learn the neighborhoods where you are looking to invest.

OH! Massachusetts, for sure! Florida has mosquitoes, alligators, swamps, and hanging chads!

All Massachusetts has is Kennedys.

Well that would depend on how you want to define "better".

Each place will be better for different approaches and for different goals.

For the other part of your question generally FL will be cheaper.
