Flipping House in Brooklyn NY

I'm looking for advice to find a place in Brooklyn.  With the price of the market it's hard to find anything at a reasonable rate.  How do I find these properties?  I'm thinking

1. Drive around neighborhoods I want to buy in and find boarded up buildings

2. Look at Zillow, Craigslist, and other buying websites

3. Find real estate agent that has access to these types of properties

I going to do number 1 this weekend.  I really want to buy in brooklyn.  Trying to figure out a way to get my food in the door.
