Military Investing Strategy

Hello all, My name is Dave and I am in the Army (have been for the last 13 years). My wife and I recently have become very interested in Real Estate investing, but aren't quite sure the best strategy to use. We recently got into a really sweet deal with my brother on a Triplex up in Wasilla, AK. But right now we are looking for areas to invest that aren't so expensive!! We are both from the Portland/Vancouver/Camas/Washougal areas but are open to other markets if we had the right contacts. Right now we plan to use a VA loan on our next home (likely duplex) and then take the cash we have to buy another investment..... Any advice from others would be great? Almost everyone always talks about investing where they live, but in the military I am almost never anywhere more than a few years (spent the last 10 years overseas).... Any advice would be great! Thanks. Seattle/Tacoma/Yelm/Graham/Puyallup

Hello! I also use to be in the Military. Best advice I can give you is to choose homes that are close to old military bases. Why?  Because as long as the base is active the easier it will be for you to rent out. You will also be able to find a number of people who want to sale because they (just like you) are transferring.

Good luck!
