I'm fairly new to the area, I have great interest in purchasing my first property to start a flip using my VA loan. I need guidance/mentor on the area and making sure I don't lose my money.

@Account Closed there are some different options for financing a flip, but the VA loan tends to be difficult to use for a live in flip because the house needs to meet certain criteria. There are some homes that meet the criteria and just need updating, but those are hard to find at a good price.

I would be weary of a "mentor" because there are many people out there selling information that you can get right here.  I would recommend learning as much as you can and networking.  Talk to as many successful investors as you can and start to see which path is right for you.  Get on meetup.com and check out all the real estate investing events in the area but don't sign up for any of them until you've been to all of them!
