Duplex

I am looking to buy and occupy a duplex in my area while renting out the other unit in the house. Most of the duplexes in my area are over 100 years old. Is there any advice or rules of thumb for homes of this age. Some of them seem to be in decent shape but a home of that age seems to be a risky investment.

Luke Nelson did you buy a duplex yet ? I just bought one in Minneapolis and used a special loan many people have not heard of, message me for specifics and I will share notes with you. (Less down than FHA and no mortgage insurance)
