Septic Issue

Hi Everyone, I have a house that I am looking to flip in Maryland (Montgomery County) but I have no idea what I am going to run into with the septic tank. All the numbers work and I'm looking to put an addition on the house and add a bedroom but there's is no way for me to find out how many bedrooms the septic can hold. It was built in 1942 so I went to the public records office and they do not have any records of the septic tank at the location. Not really sure what my options are now. What does everyone think? Thanks ahead of time, AJ

Not sure what the rules there are but I believe around here you have to know what the septic is in order to get a permit to add additions.  If it were me, I think I would hire a septic company to come out and evaluate.  My guess is that would cost a couple hundred bucks max. At least then, you would know exactly what you have and then can present that to the county with your building permit application.
