Buying short sale properties

Hey BP community, I was wondering what you guys think about short sale properties? After doing some research many people have commented that it can be quite a hassle and it takes a lot of due diligence to make sure everything is right. Any advice one these type of sales?

The last two short sales that I bought took a little longer than normal to close (roughly 3 months), but other than that there really wasn't any extra work on my part.  What sort of "hassle" have you heard about on the buyer's side?
