Warranty Deed- am I getting screwed?

Question

I just got the warranty deed to sell my house and using the same attorney as my buyer.  I noticed the section that says:

"Witnesseth that the grantor, in consideration of ONE AND MORE DOLLARS ($1.00+) paid by the grantee, hereby grants and releases unto the grantee, the heirs or successors and assigns of the grantee forever, ..."

I've never seen this before and am a little concerned.  Does "AND MORE" and the plus sign mean anything?  For example, any amount over $1.00?  Should there be the exact price I'm selling for, instead?  I tried calling my lawyers but there away for the 4th of July weekend.  It's gonna bug me til Monday!!  Any help?  Insight? :crazed:

Depends on the state.  In some states, the actual price is listed.  In others its like you say. Or, it might say "$1.00 plus other valuable consideration".  I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Some people like their privacy and do not want others casually searching to see what they paid for the house they are buying from you so you are allowed to put in $1.

You are not getting screwed :)  They just don't want the neighbors to know their biz.

The amount can still be found out (in most cases) but harder to find.

And no - it doesn't make any difference that there isn't a mortgage (makes it even harder for someone to find out).

As Eddie said - no lawyer here but breathe easy over the weekend.

I feel a whole lot better and I'll check with my lawyer on Monday.  
One more question, does it make a difference if there is no mortgage?

Here is the way I understand it (Bare with me since I'm not a lawyer) The grantor (Meaning the mortgage holder) declares that he /she/ they were paid the money owed to them by the Grantee ( The borrower) and therefor they release the property. The reason it says One dollar + is because this is a unified form and the amount is vary from one case to another.
