Invest in Boston or Ann Arbor??

Question

Hi Everyone!  Newbie here.  I'd like to take a quick poll and get your opinions on trending investment markets.  I know there are a lot of factors that go into play, but IN GENERAL, would you choose to invest in Ann Arbor, MI or Boston, MA?

I heard Ann Arbor is an up-and-coming market with potential for ongoing future growth, whereas, Boston may already be saturated and reached its peak...?  I could be completely off, which is why I'm asking you all!  Thanks in advance!

@Jessica Y., in my opinion, Boston would be the better bet.  Sure, prices are high but they're always high because of the steady demand out here.

The Boston area has over 100 colleges and universities, some of the countries best medical services, big companies like Raytheon, GE, Trip Advisor, etc.

I'm not knocking on Ann Arbor, they have a lot of great schools and industry in the city but it's just not the same as out here on the coast.  Values are high here but they also don't drop as hard as most other places in the country.  This region of the country seems to be pretty even keeled as far as the market goes - for the most part.

I would say to save your pennies and buy the best income property you can when you move out here next year.

Thanks Andrew!  We're actually moving to Boston next year though... but I want to take where we're based out of the equation and just get opinions on better growth potential overall, i.e., appreciation in the short-term and long-term.

Since you're from Ann Arbor I'd say start close to home. Several advantages in doing so. Ann Arbor seems to have good growth potential, I'd imagine you can get more bang for your buck there as well.
