FSBO how does it work ?

Can anyone give me a high-level overview of how buying from FSBO would work ? I remember my parents selling a home to another family years ago, off market using only using lawyers. is that how its done?? Who typically pays the attorneys? Would i (as buyer) pay a title company to perform title search and insurance? and then pay my lawyer to draft up deed or does seller draft deed ? What else am i forgetting????
