Zero Experience - Looking for first property...

28 Years Old and looking to start investing in real estate; not sure the best place to start.

Here is what I am thinking (please let me know your thoughts):

Buying an apartment (1 or 2 br) in a local area I know/am close to and renting it out....

OR

Finding a multifamily home to rent out (obviously a more expensive purpose)
