Buying a House in Spain, how does it work?

Hello, 

I'm about to move to Spain, more precisely in Alicante. I've found this real estate agency in Alicante offering pretty cheap flats. 

But now my question: How can I as a foreigner, buy a house in Spain? How can I be legally protected? In which currency will I have to pay?
