Is Real Estate Agent A Good Job?

Hello,

I’ve been considering becoming a real estate agent as way to build more education and to at least get my foot in the door. I want to know the pros and cons of becoming a real estate agent? I have sales experience and I love real estate so I would love to put both passion together and see what could happen.

I plan on practicing real estate in New York because I’m familiar with the area. My ultimate goal of being an agent is to understand the real estate transactions and save money to start my own investing. Also I want to gain access to MLS without having a third party. If I don’t becoming an agent, I still plan on getting my license.

What is the ultimate end goal? I got my license initially to get inside houses faster and save some money on the buy and sell side of our own deals. But pretty soon I started doing deals with others and have since built up a pretty good business helping other with their real estate transactions. Where do you plan on practicing real estate? State? City?

The pros for me are the flexible schedule, the direct correlation in effort and income, and the fact that I feel like I am really helping people make some of the biggest decisions of their lives.

Cons: The flexible schedule, and the long hours sometimes for no pay.

I would say if you are passionate about it and are willing to put in the work it can be very rewarding.
