How do you sell a timeshare?

Question

I got marketed into buying a time-share and now money is just dripping out of my pockets on maintenance fees. Does anybody have any experience getting rid of them?  I don't care if I have to give it away I just want to stop having to pay monthly maintenance fees!

Nope marketing, free vacations which are sales pitches and aggressive selling keeps it alive.

Got rid of my timeshare.  I did a deedback.  Cost me about $700 but its gone!

Yup I got out!  No real estate attorney. I told them I wanted a deed back.  At first they didnt know what I was talking about but then finally I got to the right person.  $700 was what the resort charged me for processing fee to change the title.

@An Duong did you deed the property back to the resort? Was the $700 the fee the Realestate attorney charged you or did you go through the website that was suggested above? I haven’t sold mine yet because I successfully sold a few certificates this year to family, but when I was doing my research during a divorce settlement I would have to pay an attorney to draft the quitclaim deed to my name to take my ex off the title.

My boss's parents owned a timeshare in Indiana. After the parents died they started calling him asking for money and late fees. He never paid a dime and they finally gave up. He described it as the worst real estate experience ever.

I think the industry is almost dead now right?

An I’m an attorney in Tx and I used to work for a timeshare cancellation company. Depending on your ownership, Diamond, Hilton, wyndham etc. you just have to stop paying and they will close your account. But you seriously have to just stop payment, and block their phone number. Worst case they hit your credit w a collection, which won’t hurt it more than 10-15 points. Hope this helps.
