Buying a duplex with a non-occupant partner
Hey BP folks,
I'm planning on purchasing a home in Cleveland sometime next summer. I am considering the option of purchasing a duplex in a C+ or B neighborhood, and a partner is eager to join in on the investment. In terms of qualifying for mortgages and submitting a down payment, what is the best way to approach this in order to take full advantage of any tax deduction, qualification requirements and varying types of mortgages?
