Question for contractors

Nathan Oetgen
Posted

Hello friends! I’m a 22 year olds motivated male from the Bay Area. My long term goal is to be a licensed contractor. Ive been employed for 6 months & currently work 5 to 6 days a week for a “ paint & General construction” company. It’s cool and has its advantages but I’m not expanding my learning capability; although I am getting the credentials to get my General B contractor license. I understand the test requires 4 years under a licensed contractor— my question for contractors or people that know this field is: Can I get the same credentials working for different trades in the span of 4 years as working for a general contractor for 4 years? I’m considering taking on specific trades, electrical/ plumbing/ carpentry, to gain knowledge and chizzle my learning curve down. I know a lil bout every trade but a ‘1/2 jack of all trades’ will leave under performed projects and I want to start strong and do the jobs correctly.
Any and all advice is appreciated!
