Free and Clear Title to Transfer to LLC?

So I have had a rental property in my name for the past 2 years. When I first went to rent it out I was looking to put it into an LLC, but I had talked to a friend of mine who said you can't transfer the title while you have a mortgage on the property. Now I'm wondering how true this is. Any advice?
