McCarren airport has closed its control tower.. the airport is now an uncontrolled field just like and little airport in rural america.
the airline pilots now have to operate like private pilots .. There was an interesting radio exchange with a SW pilot wondering how he gets his taxi clearance.. he was talking to center.. they respond we dont give taxi clearance.. so I think SW just has to go to unicom like us private pilots and say Hey we are SW at gate 15 and going to taxi to RWY 26 left .. etc etc.
I know this is not real estate but its pretty wild to think of some of the busiest airports in the world turned into uncontrolled fields.
