Asbestos Cement Shingles

Charles Stein
Posted

Hi BP,

We recently purchased a duplex in MA and the exterior siding is asbestos cement siding. Some areas are fine, but most of the siding is very old, cracked, or the paint chipped. We plan are replacing all of the exterior trim, but are hoping that we can repaint the siding rather than replacing.

Since you are unable to sand or powerwash asbestos, does anyone know if repainting absestos cement siding will make it look somewhat new again?

Thank you!
