When to Contact a Passive Investor

Hello BP members!

Let's say you have a deal that you're looking to raise money for. You've sent your investors the deal packet and through Mailchimp you can see who has opened and viewed the deal. In your past experience/opinion, when would be the best time to contact those individuals?

@Jesse Daconta, If this is your single deal and the next one is expected in a couple of years, then your list of investors is one-time. You can contact them as soon as possible after reviewing the documents.

But if you have a flow of deals, it’s best not to disturb investors unnecessarily. They have your contacts. They’ve read your deal packet, but they haven’t contacted you. So they’re not interested in the deal packet.

Keep the investors’ confidence in you and don’t bother them with additional questions by phone or email. Then you can send another deal packet when it is ready.

Feedback from investors

However, you need investor feedback on why they gave up the deal package.

Investors feedback from investors mustn’t be under pressure. There are 2 soft methods to get feedback.

1. Automatic feedback collectionScripts can track when viewing a package of documents:

• Document review sequence
• Reading time
• Places in the text that have attracted investors' attention (heatmap).

2. Feedback form

Place it at the end of the document package:

• Deal packet rating on a 5-star scale
• A text form where the investor can provide reasons for refusing this transaction. Some investors will fill in this field
• Your contacts for those interested in the deal.

Gradually, your package will meet the basic requirements of investors. By that time they will have more confidence in you. Investors will be more willing to contact you.

Good advice from Anthony, also try different forms of communication. Personal email, mobile txt, phone call, follow on Li, insta, etc.

I would imagine in most cases if an investor has an interest in your deal they would be reaching out to you right away. However if you wanted to follow up and be more persistent, I would say about 3 to 5 days after your Marketing email goes out to reach out again. Best of luck in all your endeavors.
